Susan McGrady Crockett- Painter

Susan McGrady Crockett, grew up in Carroll County, VA in the Dugspur community, where her family still lives and farms. After college she worked for the Roanoke Times as an artist, but once she was married and moved to Claytor Lake in Pulaski County, she became a full-time mom and artist.

After the children grew up, she once again entered the workplace but this time it was creating digital artwork. Working for Pulaski County schools she wrote programs using Smartboard software targeting specific learning needs for children.

​And now she has re-entered the world of full-time artists. She has always loved oil paints and drawing. She draws every day in sketch books and Procreate because art may be God-given but it’s also hard work that requires practice.
Susan paints landscapes and portraits from life and photos. Often sketching in the field with watercolors and painting from the small watercolor in the studio using oil paints.
